- A love of all things that sparkle drew Maryellen Thornton to the world of jewelry over two decades ago. Her first pieces were created in her spare time out of seed beads, crystal and glass and sold in parking lot “flea markets” for some extra money while she was studying for her Nursing degree. Throughout her 10 year career as a nurse she found any available opportunity to engage her creative side and make pieces for friends and family , and eventually was able to afford to evolve her designs into using gemstones and precious metals. She soon found she was more interested in the time she could find to create jewelry then her nursing career. So in 2005 Maryellen decided to pursue her creative passion full time. What had started out as a part time hobby, was launched into a business as Totally Rocks Jewelry was born . Today, Maryellen is continually developing her designs and focuses on creating delicate, sophisticated pieces out of hand picked, quality semi-precious stones and gemstones artfully combined with goldfilled metal and / or sterling silver.
